QRDexAbout this policy
This policy describes the QRDex mobile app for iOS, iPadOS and Android and this QRDex website. The app does not require an account. It does not include advertising or analytics SDKs, and it does not send your QR library to a QRDex server.
What stays on your device
The app stores saved QR content, names, collections, favorites, visual styles, icons and preferences in its local app storage. QR content may include links, text, contact information, phone numbers, email addresses and Wi-Fi credentials you choose to save.
Camera scanning and reading a QR code from a selected image take place on your device. QRDex does not upload camera frames or selected images to a server for recognition.
When you configure a widget, the selected QR image, display name and related settings are shared with the QRDex widget extension on the same device. A home-screen widget can show this content to anyone who can view your screen.
Permissions, when you need them
- Camera: requested when you scan a QR code.
- Photo selection: the system picker lets you choose an image to import. The app uses the selected file to find a QR code.
- Save to Photos: requested when needed by your operating system to save an exported QR image.
- Files: the system file picker and share sheet let you import or export backups.
You can decline optional permissions and still create codes manually and use your saved collection. Manage permissions in your device settings. QRDex does not request microphone or location access.
Sharing, links and backups
Copying a code places its content on the system clipboard. Exporting or sharing sends the selected content to the destination you choose, such as Photos, Files, another app or a person. Those destinations are governed by their own privacy practices. Opening a link, email address or phone action uses the corresponding app or service; a website you open can receive normal connection information.
Exported backups are ordinary JSON files and are not encrypted by QRDex. They can contain the full content of your saved codes, including Wi-Fi credentials. Keep these files somewhere you trust and share them only with intended recipients.
Your operating system may include QRDex app data in device backups or transfers, depending on your settings. This is separate from QRDex's manual export feature. QRDex does not provide its own cloud sync service.
Visiting this website
This website does not include advertising trackers, an analytics script, or a QR upload form. Your light/dark preference is saved in this browser’s local storage and is not sent to QRDex. Its fonts and images are served with the site. Hosting and network providers may process IP addresses, browser information and request logs to deliver and protect the website, under their own policies. A private preview may require a hosting-provider sign-in and the provider's necessary cookies.
If you contact support, we receive the information you choose to include, such as your email address, device details and description of the issue. We use that information to respond and troubleshoot. Please do not send passwords, private QR content or backup files unless they are necessary and you intend to share them.
Retention and your choices
Saved codes remain in the app until you delete them or remove app data. You can edit or delete individual codes, export a backup, remove widgets, and revoke permissions. Removing app data or uninstalling normally removes local app storage; operating-system backups, exported files and copies you shared may remain and must be managed separately.
QRDex does not sell your QR content. Because we do not operate a server holding your QR library, we cannot retrieve it after you lose your device or local data. Keep a backup if you need to preserve it.
For information you voluntarily send to support, you can request access, correction or deletion using the contact below. Support correspondence is retained only as needed to address requests and meet applicable obligations. Rights and exceptions depend on applicable law.
Children
QRDex is a general-purpose QR utility and is not designed to collect children's personal information. If you believe a child has sent personal information to support, contact us so we can address it.
Changes to this policy
We will update this page if the app's data practices change and revise the date above. Material changes will be explained before or when they take effect.
