How to add
a home screen QR widget.

Start in QRDex: open Widgets, create a widget, choose a saved QR and its appearance, then save. You can create, scan or import a QR from this flow too. Saving a configuration and placing it on your home screen are separate steps.

On iPhone & iPad

  1. Touch and hold an empty area of the Home Screen.
  2. Open Edit → Add Widget, then search for QRDex.
  3. Choose Small or Medium and add the widget.
  4. Touch and hold it, choose Edit Widget, then select the saved configuration by name.

Open QRDex once after installing. Independent widget selection requires iOS or iPadOS 17+. On 16.4, widgets keep one shared configuration.

On Android

  1. Save your widget in QRDex, tap Add to home screen, then confirm your launcher’s prompt.
  2. Or touch and hold your Home Screen, open Widgets, find QRDex and choose a saved configuration.
  3. Place the widget and resize it to suit your screen.

The exact controls and available space depend on your launcher.

Create separate configurations for independent QR codes and appearances. Duplicate one to make a variation. If two home screen widgets use the same saved configuration, editing it updates both.

A small QR widget keeps the code compact. The medium layout gives its name more room. Choose the actual size in your device’s widget picker or launcher.

Pick light, dark, or system appearance for each saved widget, separately from the app. The QR keeps a high-contrast white scanning area in either theme.

Can I put a QR code on my home screen?

Yes. Save a widget configuration in QRDex, then add it using your home screen’s widget picker. You can also scan an existing QR or import it from a photo.

Can I add multiple widgets with different QR codes?

Yes, on Android and iOS or iPadOS 17+. Save a configuration for each QR, then add the widgets one at a time. Each configuration has its own name and appearance. iOS and iPadOS 16.4 keep the legacy shared widget.

What happens when I tap the widget?

It opens the selected QR in QRDex, where you can show it fullscreen or share it. Tapping the widget does not automatically open the QR’s web destination.
