Make QRDex
feel like home.

1. Open the Widgets tab in QRDex.
2. Create a widget, choose a QR and appearance, then save. Naming it is optional.
3. Touch and hold an empty area of the Home Screen. Open Edit → Add Widget (or the + button on earlier versions).
4. Search for QRDex, choose a widget size and add it.
5. Touch and hold the widget, choose Edit Widget, and select your saved configuration.

After first installing QRDex, open the app once so the system can register the widget. Independent selection requires iOS or iPadOS 17+. Version 16.4 keeps the shared legacy widget.

In QRDex, open Widgets, create a configuration, choose a code and save. Tap Add to home screen and confirm the launcher prompt. Or open your home screen’s widget picker, place QRDex, and select a saved configuration. Resize it using your launcher. If you cancel, your saved configuration stays available to try again.

Yes. Choose light, dark or system appearance independently for each saved widget. The app appearance is set separately in Settings. QR codes keep a high-contrast white scanning area in both themes.

Open QRDex and check the QR selected in that saved configuration. If preparation failed, tap Retry. On iOS, use Edit Widget to check which configuration the home screen widget uses. On Android, reconfigure it through your launcher or remove and re-add it. The operating system controls refresh timing. If the source QR was deleted, choose a replacement in the configuration; QRDex will not silently substitute another code.

Yes, on Android and iOS or iPadOS 17+. Create a separate saved configuration for each QR, then add each widget. Duplicate a configuration for an independently editable version. If several home screen widgets use the same configuration, editing it updates all of them. Version 16.4 of iOS and iPadOS keeps one shared legacy configuration.

No. Saving prepares the configuration. Use Add to home screen on Android or the setup guide on iPhone and iPad to place it. You can reopen the guide later. QRDex does not treat opening the guide or returning to the app as proof that placement finished.

No. Your source QR stays in the library. Home screen widgets linked to a deleted configuration show a setup state until you choose another configuration or remove them.

Keep the entire code and its white border visible. Improve the lighting, clean the camera lens and adjust the distance. For image import, use a clear, uncropped image with one QR code. QRDex reads QR codes; it does not support every barcode format.

Open your device Settings, find QRDex, and enable Camera access. On Android, look under Apps → QRDex → Permissions. You can also import a QR image or create a code without using the camera.

Open the code and choose Edit. Change its name, collection, icon or QR style, then save. Icons can appear as a badge or inside the QR. Longer content can limit center-icon use to keep the code readable.

No. Review the scanned content first, then choose whether to save or open it. Only open destinations you trust.

Open Settings and export a backup. Save the JSON file using the system share sheet. On the other device, install QRDex and import that file from Settings. Restore merges valid new entries; matching IDs are not overwritten. Backups are not encrypted and may contain sensitive QR content, so keep them private.

Open Settings to choose a language and light, dark or system appearance. You can also replay the introduction from Settings. QRDex supports English, Vietnamese, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Simplified Chinese, Japanese and Korean.

No account is required. Creating, saving and displaying QR codes works on your device. An internet connection may be needed when you choose to open a web link or share through another online service.

Open a saved code and choose Delete to remove it. Remove any widgets that show it. To remove all local app data, use your operating system’s app-data controls or uninstall the app. Exported images, manual backups and device backups may remain separately. See the privacy policy.
